Body Update
Don't know whether there's been any weight change recently. I've been trying to avoid hopping on a scale every time I see one and instead am limiting my "weigh ins" to once or twice a month. I don't want to become like one of those neurotics who continually obsess over weight and weight fluctuations. I am noticing tiny little muscle growths in various places which is inspiring, except for my legs which are experiencing substantial changes.
Just what I needed: bigger legs. (sarcasm off) Last night I spent an hour doing cardio work, which, in case you can't imagine is difficult to fit into my already busy schedule. Today I'll be running late to our mandatory off-site staff retreat so I can (you guessed it) get in my workout. I think I can scratch "commit to exercise program" off my list of overdue resolutions from 1998-2001. My co-worker has come down with his winter cough which will last from mid-October until March. As a courtesy he has turned on his fan which blows every germ he coughs out of his cubicle and directly into mine. G*d forbid, he actually go see a doctor. Such minor annoyances make up the bulk of my day around here. No Peace-Corps-esq charging forward to save the world for me, it's all mundane and grounded in reality, germs and shin splints. Me, grounded in reality, who'd a thunk it. (Hmmm...only 20 uses of I, me and mine in 14 sentences. That ratio seems a bit low. Let me up it a bit: me, me, me, I, I, I, mine, mine, mine. That's better. What good is a blog without gratuitous navel gazing?)

Just Missed
Heard about the most recent sniper shooting in Virginia? Would you believe I was at that same Home Depot 3 hours before the shooting and parked in the same lot? Well, I was. I can count on one hand the number of times I've been to Home Depot. My co-workers made me go out there to make key copies for them. They're all feeling very guilty right about now. Especially since most of them are afraid to go outside for lunch, let alone drive out to the suburbs to do hardware'ing.
At the time of the actual shooting, I was coming out of the gym, 3 miles away wondering why there were so many cop cars out and about. Luckily Steve managed to dodge the worst of the traffic. He was out bowling and every side street he could have taken to get off Rt. 50 was cordoned off to be searched. It's a horrible crime, but you have to give the sniper credit: anyone who can effect a fast getaway from the 7 Corners area is one h*ll of a driver. It's a traffic nightmare! Just got a warning that the server will be going down in 2 minutes. More to come later.
